LED Status Indicators
The RGB LED on your LobstaBox communicates its current state at a glance.
LED Patterns
| LED Pattern | Color | Meaning | What to Do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solid | 🟠 Amber | Booting | Wait 30–60 seconds |
| Pulsing | 🔵 Blue | Setup mode — waiting for you to connect | Connect to the LobstaBox-XXXX WiFi network |
| Spinning | 🌈 Rainbow | Configuring / working | Wait — it's processing your setup |
| Solid | 🟢 Green | Ready — running normally | Everything is working! |
| Pulsing | 🔴 Red | Error | Check the web interface at http://lobstabox.local |
| Blinking | 🔵 Blue | Updating | Wait for the update to complete |
| Off | — | Powered off or deep sleep | Check power connection |
Quick Reference
- 🟠 Amber = booting (wait)
- 🔵 Pulsing blue = setup mode (connect to WiFi AP)
- 🌈 Rainbow = configuring (wait)
- 🟢 Green = all good!
- 🔴 Red = problem (check web interface)
- 🔵 Blinking blue = updating (wait)
LED Hardware Details
The LED is driven by GPIO pins on the Raspberry Pi 5:

The LED controller supports both gpiozero (preferred on Pi 5, uses lgpio) and RPi.GPIO backends. On non-Pi hardware, it falls back to console logging.
